Where would you like to go Glamping?
What makes winter glamping special
Winter is arguably the best time to go glamping. The crowds are gone, midweek prices are often lower, and the landscape looks its best under frost or a dusting of snow. The trick is choosing a place built for the cold.
What to look for in a winter glamping site
Not every site stays open – or stays warm – in winter, so it’s worth checking a few things before you book:
- Proper insulation and heating – a solid-walled cabin, pod or lodge with a wood burner or electric heater holds its warmth far better than canvas.
- A private hot tub – there’s nothing like sinking into warm water with cold air on your face. Wood-fired tubs take a couple of hours to heat; electric ones are ready on arrival.
- Open all year – look for the sites in the list above, as many places close for the winter season.
- A cosy setting – a log burner, soft lighting and a spot to watch the stars turn a cold night into the highlight of the trip.
Where to go glamping in winter
Winter glamping works all over the UK. The Lake District, the Peak District and Yorkshire come into their own with crisp walks and pub lunches; Wales and Scotland offer dark skies and dramatic weather; and the softer countryside of Kent, Norfolk, Devon and the Cotswolds makes for an easy, cosy escape. Wherever you go, a hot tub and a wood burner make all the difference.
Christmas and New Year glamping
Winter-open sites are a lovely alternative to a hotel for a Christmas or New Year getaway – private, peaceful and all your own. Festive dates book up early, so it’s worth reserving ahead.
