Autumn Glamping in the UK: 18 Cosy Sites Open This Autumn

Plenty of people think glamping is a summer thing, and that the season ends when the schools go back. It doesn’t. Many of the sites we list are open all year, and autumn is one of the best times to go: quieter sites, golden woodland, crisp walks, early dark evenings for stargazing, and the simple pleasure of coming back to a warm cabin and a crackling stove.

The secret is choosing the right kind of glamping. A bell tent in a field is a summer treat. An insulated pod, a shepherd’s hut with a wood burner or a cabin with underfloor heating is a different story, and it’s as snug in November as a cottage. Here’s what to look for, and 18 sites across England, Scotland and Wales that are open right through the autumn, most of them all year round.

What to look for in an autumn glamping stay

  • Proper heating. Look for “insulated”, “underfloor heating”, “central heating” or a heater you can control. Most pods and cabins have this. Canvas tents often don’t.
  • A wood burner or log burner. Not essential, but it’s what turns a stay into a cosy one. Check whether logs are included or extra.
  • A private bathroom. On a cold, wet night you won’t want to cross a field to the shower block. “En-suite” is worth paying a little more for in autumn.
  • A hot tub. Nearly half of UK glamping sites now have one (47%, according to our State of UK Glamping 2026 study), and they’re at their best on a chilly evening under the stars. Wood-fired tubs take a while to heat, so ask how long.
  • Somewhere to dry off. A covered deck or porch, and space for muddy boots, makes a big difference after an autumn walk.

Good to know

The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October 2026. That means darker evenings and an extra hour in bed. Arrive in daylight if you can, as finding a site in the dark down a country lane is no fun.

October half-term dates vary by area, so check your own school’s dates. Family-sized pods and lodges at the best sites book up first, so it’s worth booking early.

Book direct. Every site on Love Glamping takes bookings directly, so you deal with the owners themselves and can ask about heating, logs or late check-in before you go.

Autumn glamping FAQs

Is glamping too cold in autumn?

Not if you choose well. Insulated pods, cabins and shepherd’s huts with heating or a wood burner are warm and comfortable all year. Canvas bell tents and yurts without a stove are better saved for summer.

Which glamping sites are open all year?

Many are. 17 of the 18 sites in this article say they are open all year round, and Skelwith Fold in the Lake District is open until mid-November. Always check the listing or ask the owner, as some close for a few weeks in winter. Highland Gateway near Alloa, for example, opens all year apart from January.

Is autumn a good time for stargazing?

Yes. Darker evenings come earlier, and several of these sites are in or near official dark sky areas, including Galloway Forest, Northumberland and Exmoor.

Are hot tubs worth it in autumn?

They’re at their best on a cold, clear night. If the tub is wood-fired, ask how long it takes to heat and whether logs are included.
