What is there to do and see in Rutland?

One of Rutland’s biggest attractions is Rutland Water. This large reservoir is perfect for walkers, cyclists and sailors or just for  simply enjoying the fabulous views. There’s a great cycle route that circles the water and the nearby nature reserves make it a great spot for birdwatching. It’s easy to spend a full day here as a family or couple before returning to your glamping base in the evening.

The county is also home to some charming market towns and historic sites. Oakham has independent shops and historic Oakham Castle, known for its collection of ceremonial horseshoes. Uppingham is another beautiful little town, with galleries, cafés, and traditional stone buildings. For history lovers, Normanton Church, which sits on the edge of Rutland Water, is one of the area’s most photographed settings.

A glamping holiday in Rutland is about slowing down and enjoying simple pleasures. You can spend your days exploring lakeside paths, visiting small towns, or relaxing in the countryside, then return each evening to a cosy place to stay. This part of England feels very calm and unspoilt.

Also close to Leicester you can explore the city taking in the National Space Centre, Leicestershire Museum and Art Gallery, Leicester Cathedral and the King Richard 111 Visitor Centre.
