Welcome to Camp Tapnell, our relaxed take on camping at Tapnell Farm on the beautiful Isle of Wight. Just a short drive or scenic journey from the harbour town of Yarmouth, it’s the perfect base for an Island adventure.
Our upcycled shipping containers offer all the fun and freedom of camping, without the hassle of putting up a tent. Simple, comfortable and full of character, they’re a great option for families, couples and friends looking for an affordable outdoor escape.
Surrounded by rolling countryside, big skies and spectacular sunsets, Camp Tapnell gives you the chance to switch off, spend time outdoors and enjoy everything Tapnell Farm has to offer right on your doorstep.

YOUR CAMP TAPNELL CONTAINER
Our converted shipping containers have been cleverly repurposed and clad in timber to create simple, cosy camping accommodation that keeps you sheltered whatever the Great British weather decides to do.
Think of it as camping without the tent. You’ll have lockable doors, proper beds, mattresses, storage and somewhere comfortable to relax – while still enjoying the freedom and simplicity of a camping holiday.
Inside each container you’ll find:
- 4 sets of bunk beds (8 singles)
- Mattresses with flat sheets provided
- Hooks and shelving for storage
- Two bean bags for relaxing
- Double electric socket
- Festoon lighting
OUTSIDE YOUR CONTAINER
Step outside and the West Wight countryside becomes your garden.
Each container has its own picnic bench, perfect for breakfast in the sunshine or relaxed al fresco dinners. Bring along your camping chairs, settle in and watch the sun disappear over the countryside before enjoying the starry skies above Tapnell.
Please note that BBQs and fire pits are not permitted at Camp Tapnell.
WHAT TO BRING
Camp Tapnell is designed to take the hassle out of camping, but it’s still a camping experience, so you’ll need to bring a few essentials.
Please bring:
- Duvets or sleeping bags, pillows and bed linen
- Towels
- Cooking equipment
- Plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery and utensils
- Camping stove – a slab is provided outside each container for safe use
- Camping chairs
- Torches and lanterns
We provide the container and beds – you bring the camping kit and sense of adventure!
CAMP TAPNELL FACILITIES
Everything you need for a comfortable camping stay is just a short stroll from your container.
Our modern washroom block has flushing toilets and hot showers, while the communal kitchen makes preparing meals easy.
Facilities include:

SO MUCH TO DO AT TAPNELL FARM
One of the best things about staying at Camp Tapnell is having some of the Isle of Wight’s favourite activities right on your doorstep.
Make a day of it at Tapnell Farm Park, take on the Aqua Park, enjoy a round of Football Golf, or try one of the other activities available around the Farm.
Staying guests can benefit from discounts on selected Tapnell Farm attractions, making it even easier to pack more into your Island adventure. Discounted ferry travel is also available.

EAT & DRINK AT TAPNELL
Don’t fancy cooking? You don’t have to go far.
The Cow Restaurant & Bar is right here at Tapnell Farm, serving delicious food in a relaxed setting and making the most of the Farm’s beef and fantastic local produce.
You’ll also find The Clubhouse next door- available any time of day, with a large TV, pool table, table tennis, and other games.
We recommend booking The Cow online in advance, particularly during busy periods.
EXPLORE THE ISLE OF WIGHT
When you’re ready to venture beyond the Farm, Camp Tapnell is perfectly placed for exploring the beautiful West Wight.
Being on an Island means you’re never far from the coast, with miles of beaches, walking and cycling routes, picturesque villages and dramatic scenery waiting to be discovered.
Two of our local favourites are Compton Bay, with its sweeping beach and spectacular sunsets, and Freshwater Bay, surrounded by some of the West Wight’s most impressive coastal scenery.
Food lovers will also find plenty to discover, from country pubs and independent cafés to farm shops, vineyards and restaurants showcasing fantastic Island produce.

1-night stay: £100 per container
2 nights or more: £75 per container, per night

DOG-FRIENDLY STAYS
Four-legged adventurers are welcome too.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while on site and must never be left unattended inside the accommodation.
