The pull of a luxury hotel is often tempting however, it can be expensive, noisy, lacking in space and non child friendly. With glamping you can still enjoy London with luxury facilities alongside the relaxing space provided by glamping. We tested this theory by first staying in a hotel in London. We opted for Canary Wharf which is a newly generated area and famously home to Billingsgate Fish Market and waterways of Poplar Dock with it’s cabin boats and narrow boats. Available for glamping on the waterways was London Water Lodge Retreat.
The Tribe is a beautiful quirky hotel in the newly regeneration area of Wood Wharf with restaurants, shops, Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre and live music venue Boisdale. Here you can enjoy regular Jazz and Soul events and touring bands as a backdrop to an evening meal or drink. Remember Odyssey….? We enjoyed an evening of songs such Native New Yorker, Inside Out and Going Back to my Roots. The morning after we discovered breakfast was not included in the £190 hotel bill and although we took the DLR a speedy trip into Central London for breakfast, we wondered what whether the more affordable glamping available in the London area would have been a better choice.
With London easily accessible you can enjoy Glamping in Surrey at Glamping Holiday or Surrey Yurts or even sites in Kent or Essex are only a 45 minutes train ride into London. Here you will be able to cook your own breakfast, have space for the kids and relaxation after some hard exploring and shopping in the city and then maybe return to relax in your own private wood fired hot tub. The next day you’ll be far more ready to explore some of the outer reach and cultural areas of London such as Kew Gardens near Richmond or the Young VA at Bethnel Green.
