Exploring Hidden Meadows: A Glamping Adventure in Suffolk

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit Ian and Lynne at their glamping site, Hidden Meadows, in Suffolk.  After informal introductions, they took me on a tour, something they do with each of their visiting glampers.  We headed off through the field at the back of Ian and Lynne’s home and on our way to their glamp site.

On our way to the site, we passed a Emperor tent where Lynne mentioned how she had hired, per the request of a Hen Party the weekend before, various beauty therapists who pampered the ladies for their weekend away.  Lynne explained how she is working on utilising this tent for a variety of pamper events which could be a wonderful addition to your glamping experience. On through the beautiful woods is a 1/3 acre pond where you can fish until your hearts content. For those of you who don’t fish, Ian is more than willing to come along and help you. If you’re lucky, you may even spot the resident King Fisher and Heron as you relax in this tranquil environment.

While continuing through the woods, I noticed some deer hoof prints. Lynne and Ian, working closely with Suffolk Wildlife Trust, have adopted eco-friendly and sustainable methods to develop and enhance their little slice of Suffolk, which actually spans 25 acres and attracts lots of wildlife.

Hidden Meadows boasts three large, well appointed Safari Tents. Even though they are located well away from Ian and Lynne’s home, if you need anything, it’s never too much trouble for them to get it for you. Lynne opened up their new addition, Jenny Wren, for me to take a peak. I have to admit that I’ve never been in a Safari Tent before, so upon entering and seeing it with fresh eyes, it was a pleasant surprise. My first feelings were how cosy the tent was, with the wild flowers in a vase on the table and one of Lynne’s home baked cakes. What a welcome! She told me how she had been complemented on her cakes many times, more recently by some chefs who had stayed. Now that’s saying something! And speaking of food, one the comments in the visitors book said that Lynne’s “afternoon tea was the best ever!” For a small extra cost, you can enjoy a hot meal delivered in a hay box right to your tent. Yum! Each tent has it’s own private facilities, camp fire and bathrooms with flushing toilets and the beds have memory foam mattresses with the cosiest bedding. Cooking facilities include a bar-b-q, an outdoor gas oven with stove and a pizza oven. The thing that I really loved and I know my children would too, is the chicken run next to each tent! The girls had been busy laying their eggs this morning! It’s a shame I wasn’t staying this time as I love eggs for breakfast!

For my first visit to a glamping site, there seemed to be everything you would need, and if not, Ian and Lynne are the best hosts with nothing being too much trouble. It’s a place where you can relax and get close to nature. A place where I feel you would reluctantly leave. And what’s more, Hidden Meadows is ideally located, with the number one beach destination, Southwold, only 20 minutes away and so many other places to visit and things to do nearby. Why not book in and try it for yourself?

Until next time…love glamping!
