Light Farm Glamping Cabins can be found in the heart of the East Sussex countryside, nestled between the South Downs and The Weald in the idyllic village of Laughton. Situated on the family-run farm with a country pub and village shop within easy walking distance, our luxury en-suite cabins provide the opportunity to enjoy everything that the beautiful surroundings have to offer as well as being ideal accommodation for visiting the world-famous Glyndebourne with its Opera House.
Guests will experience staying on a working farm and enjoying the best that the Sussex countryside has to offer. Throughout the year Light Farm offers a perfect base from which to enjoy the multitude of local craft workshops, including floristry and stained-glass.
OUR CABINS
Our fully insulated cabins, equipped with underfloor heating and double-glazing, are suitable for year round accommodation. Designed to blend into the natural surroundings, they provide relaxed accommodation for two or, for a family holiday with two adults and up to two children.

THE FARM
Guests are free to explore our working farm of just under 40 acres comprising of mixed arable and grazing land including our mixed beef herd who can be found grazing on the Farm and our Bees with working apiary and multiple active colonies. The Farm is home to an abundance of wildlife including three species of owls. Woodpeckers, buzzards and kestrels can be seen at certain times of the year and the very lucky visitor may catch a glimpse of a kingfisher hunting on the pond.
Stargazing
Our cabin holidays offer stunning views of the stars and constellations. On a clear night the absence of light pollution means that the night sky can be enjoyed at its best.
THE ENVIRONMENT
Renewables fulfil a large element of the Farm’s energy requirements. The Farm Buildings utilise multiple panel arrays to harvest solar power with both ground and air-source heat pumps providing heating and hot water to the farmhouse and buildings.
LOCAL AREA
East Sussex offers a wealth of experiences to suit all tastes. Historic towns, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, wonderful walks, a range of excellent restaurants and fine country pub dining, local breweries and vineyards and much more. A small selection are listed below.
- Laughton – Listed in the Domesday Book, the village hosts a wonderful country pub & village shop within easy walking distance of the Farm, and a historic church dating back to the twelfth century. An extensive public footpath network can be accessed directly from the Farm
- Lewes – A traditional market town and centre of communications, in 1264 it was the site of the Battle of Lewes. The town’s landmarks include Lewes Castle, Lewes Priory, Bull House (the former home of Thomas Paine), Southover Grange and public gardens, and Anne of Cleves House
- Brighton
- Eastbourne – historic town and seaside resort
- Charleston Farmhouse – House and artists’ garden, Charleston hosts a year-round programme of events, most notably the Charleston Festival. The house is located close to the Village of Firle, six miles from the Farm
- Glyndebourne – English country house, the site of an opera house that, since 1934, has been the venue for the annual Glyndebourne Festival Opera
- Steam Railways – The Bluebell Railway at Sheffield Park and The Lavender Line at Isfield
- South Downs Way – the long distance footpath and bridleway running along the South Downs runings for 100 miles from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne
- Wine Country – The local area is home to a number of vineyards and wineries with several offering seasonal tours and tasting sessions
- A wealth of opportunities for fishing with a number of commercial fisheries in the local area. Guests are welcome to fish the Farm Pond though may find that the commercial alternatives provide more challenge
- Craft Workshops including Anthologie Floristry who offer a range of workshops, and are just down the road from us. Other local workshops include stained glass and painting
