Castle Farm Holidays in Shropshire is set on a tranquil and picturesque development with glamping and holiday cottages located between Ellesmere and Oswestry in the beautiful North Shropshire countryside. We have four wooden pods, including one with a private hot tub and a charming shepherd’s hut. All accommodations have electricity, the usual caravan-style mod-cons and use of a smart shower block.
The medieval county town of Shrewsbury to the south, and the Roman city of Chester to the north, are both just a 45 minute drive away. The Welsh border, bringing with it numerous attractions and some fantastic scenery, is just a little over a mile from Castle Farm too.
Stays are relatively flexible and start from just £80 per pod. There’s free WiFi, children are welcome and we don’t charge you if you want to bring your dogs (a maximum of three, depending on size).
All of our glamping is in a field adjacent to a picturesque dingle, with overflying buzzards and views of the local church, and each come with their own picnic table. BBQs are welcome (please keep them on the gravelled areas).
BLUEBELL SHEPHERDS HUT – sleeps 4
Bluebell is a cosy shepherd’s hut with its own hot tub- also comes with a double bed and sofa bed, sleeping up to four. This was built and installed in 2018 and includes

OUR PODS
Our pods come in three different levels –
STANDARD – Beech and Oak sleeping up to 4
STANDARD with Hot Tub – Willow sleeping up to 4
POD for up to 2 guests- Ash
All of the standard pods sleep up to four, either as two single beds or one quadruple bed, whilst Ash pod sleeps two on a ‘proper’ double bed. For all but Ash and Bluebell , you need to bring your own bedding, towels and anything else you would normally take camping. Basically, we provide your ‘tent’ with a few useful extras – a fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave, electric fire and WiFi.
There is now an option to hire bedding for Willow, Oak and Beech pods if you prefer.

LOCAL AREA
- Ellesmere is 5 miles away, often referred to as the Shropshire Lake District, There is a series of nine lakes, known as ‘meres’, formed 12,000 years ago. The most accessible and the largest (at 46 hectares) is simply known as The Mere, and is just a short walk from Ellesmere town centre (there’s also parking close to the water’s edge).
- The larger town of Oswestry, which is 9 miles away is where you will find more of your familiar High Street names
- Just miles from the Welsh border, we are ideally situated to explore Wales
- The Roman city of Chester is 25 miles away
- The medieval county town of Shrewsbury is 22 miles away
- Ironbridge World Heritage Site is 35 miles away
- Llangollen Canal is said to be the most beautiful canal in the country. An eight-mile cycle ride westerly along its towpath will take you across Chirk Aqueduct, and over the Welsh border to Chirk where you will find a 13th century National Trust-owned castle, set amongst 480 acres of parkland
- Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, another World Heritage Site, is almost twice as high as the one at Chirk!
- There are several National Trust properties including Erddig Hall (near Wrexham), Attingham Park (Shrewsbury) and Powis Castle (Welshpool)
- Whittington Castle is just six miles away
- The town Llangollen has plenty to see and do and is famous for it’s International Musical Eisteddfod
- Enjoy horse-drawn rides along the canal, or steam train rides to Corwen

Pods from £80 per night for Oak and Beech Pods- cost is for the pod, not per person
You can stay for just one night, although Ash, Willow and Bluebell need to be booked for a MINIMUM OF TWO NIGHTS, whilst all breaks taken over Bank Holiday- min 2 night stay.
TWO SELF CATERING COTTAGES ALSO AVAILABLE
We have two detached cottages, Woodpecker Cottage sleeping 5 which is wheelchair friendly frand Nuthatch Cottage sleeping 4. Both have their own private patios with hot tubs.
