Hastingford Fishery Uckfield Sussex
Come Glamping and enjoy some quality time at our family run fishery and farm, staying in one of our unique shepherds huts overlooking the lakes. Whether you are looking for a peaceful relaxing break in the beautiful Sussex countryside or are a keen or occasional angler or wild swimmer this will be the place for you.
FISHERMAN’S HUTS
Most huts have all mod cons. Perch and Tench huts overlooking the top lake are slightly larger, have full kitchens and ensuite facilities. Carp and Roach huts (on our bottom lake) have a short walk to your private heated shower and toilet unit, although there is also a small ‘portaloo’ hut right outside those 2 huts.
WILD SWIMMING
At the very top of our site is a natural ‘wild swimming’ pool for those adventurous enough. Just relax around the pool with its picnic benches and gazebo and enjoy the fabulous views to the South Downs from here.
LAKES
There are four other accessible natural wild lakes for walking around and which are up the hill and away from the rest. Perfect for a wander round with or without your dog (secure areas shown on arrival for your dog to have a really good run off the lead), with benches to sit and enjoy the space and tranquillity with lovely views too.
FISHING LAKES
There are 4 lakes (all spring fed). The bottom one is the original fishing lake, with large common and mirror carp plus perch and grass carp. The second (newest) large lake, has more breeds of silver fish and has matured nicely. This is stocked with common and mirror carp, golden and blue orfe, perch, green and golden tench, roach, rudd, dace and gudgeon. Our 3rd lake is about a year old and has Carp and Orfe. The other small ones are left ‘wild’ in rough woodland.
Fishing is available by the day 8am – 8pm or dusk and by night (hut residents only) – 8pm or dusk to 8am. Must book as limited numbers on each lake. Please request our fees list and rules.
DOGS
Dogs are welcomed but MUST be kept on leads around the huts, fishing lakes and farm. There is always an empty fenced field for off lead (shown on arrival) for excercising but please always clear up after them.

PUBS
For outside refreshment, Hadlow Down has a very old ‘locals’ drinking type pub – The New Inn, and Buxted has 2 pub/restaurants, (The White Hart and The Buxted Inn) as does High Hurstwood (The Hurstwood).
In Five Ash Down there is The Pig and Butcher and in Blackboys The Blackboys Inn (highly recommended). In Crowborough the nearest is The Wheatsheaf in Mount Pleasant which does good food. For those wanting ‘posh’ or just to walk, there is Buxted Park, on the outskirts of Buxted, off the A272. The Kings Arms in Rotherfield is very good. In Crowborough you have The White Hart, The Blue Anchor and The Cross (Wetherspoons), plus The Bricklayers Arms. The Crow and Gate on the edge of Ashdown Forest is excellent for dog walkers.
