Glamping Wales Snowdonia

Our glamping in Wales and the Snowdonia National Park includes 4 yurts, our beautiful Shepherd’s Hut and two cosy wagons as well as a touring camp site near Barmouth and Dolgellau, North Wales.

Our glamping site is in an exceptional location overlooking the stunning Mawddach Estuary. Walk through our meadows to the Mawddach Trail, a scenic 9 mile cycle track and path linking seaside Barmouth and the historic market town of Dolgellau. We make the perfect rural retreat for walking, cycling holidays and mountain-biking, bird-watching or stargazing. The spectacular Cader Idris mountain rises steeply behind us and there are magnificent views towards Barmouth’s bridge and sandy beaches. ZipWorld, Coed-y-Brenin’s mountain bike routes, Portmeirion and Harlech Castle are all within easy reach. You’ll find natural beauty in this quiet corner of Snowdonia National Park whatever time of year you choose to stay – bluebells in spring, summer sunsets, phenomenal autumn colours and sparkling autumn mornings. Children love the freedom to scramble around and find natural treasures. Photographers and artists often get no further than where our fields meet the Mawddach Estuary. We can provide group accommodation for special celebrations. It’s a great place to bring your bike, camera or dog too!

Choose from different glamping experiences at Graig Wen depending on the time of year:

Glamping in the Glade
In a secret silver birch glade just off the beaten track from the main camp site you can stay in one of three yurts or the Shepherd’s Hut. The accommodation feels private although you will see your fellow glampers through trees. You are close to the washing facilities and can park by your accommodation.
Open March – October

Wild Glamping
Hidden away in the woods and meadows of our wilder, tent camping fields there is a simply furnished bell tent and a pop-up yurt. Secluded and away from it all, you will have an eco-loo and hot shower nearby. Parking is a few minutes walk in the campers’ car park but when you check in / out we can give you a lift in our off road vehicle.
Open May – September

Winter Glamping
During the colder months, our Shepherd’s Hut and two stylish and cosy quarry wagons are sited on the camp site complete with electricity and washing facilities practically en suite. You will have woodburning stoves as well as electricity for extra heat, lighting, and to make your morning cuppa. The small, sheltered site has big estuary views and your neighbours will be the odd out of season camper van or caravan.
Open March– early January.

THE YURTS – Sleeping 2 to 5 people

From the early May Bank Holiday, Idris Yurt pops-up in a wild corner of our lower tent camping fields until late September. In the wild location you camp in a secret, private area with your own camp fire, huge old oak trees and views up the valley. You will truly experience deep peace and tranquility here with birdsong your only soundtrack. Perfect for adults and older children seeking an active, wild adventure. Dogs on leads are welcome too.

For families with very young children or those who prefer to be closer to washing facilities and their car, we recommend Glamping in the Glade in Tommy yurt might suit you better.

You can choose from one Large Yurt sleeping up to five people and one Small Yurt for two people.

  • Kingsized Bed, single futon beds and a camp bed in the Large Yurt
  • Double futon bed in the Small Yurt
  • Rugs and floor cushions
  • Wood-burning stove inside
  • Simple cooking facilities on 2 ring camping gas stove with pans, plates, cutlery and utensils
  • Cool box and fridge access for freezing ice blocks
  • Decking and outdoor seating area
  • Campfire
  • We provide a basket of logs to get you going – more for sale on site

Bring your own bedding, pillows and towels or hire from us in advance

QUARRY WAGONS
Enjoy our amazing location from the comfort of our two new quarry wagons. Cosy whatever the weather, the wagons are in a little less secluded than our yurts and shepherd’s hut, giving you easy access to a few more mod cons and parking close by.

The wagons come equipped with kitchenettes, USB points, a firepit, shower, and toilet facilities so you can have all the fun of camping without sacrificing the luxuries you are used to.

The cosy wagons are fully insulated with instant heat from infrared heaters at the touch of the button – ideal if you want to warm up quickly after a day’s hiking or biking on the hills. Parking is nearby.

Empress wagon sleeps up to 4 and Small Duchess sleeps up to 3 people.
Open March – early January

JONES THE SHEPHERDS HUT
Relax in this unique Shepherd’s Hut in a wildly beautiful corner of Snowdonia National Park. Jones the Shepherds Hut is set in a tranquil and sheltered silver birch glade with the beautiful Mawddach Estuary a short walk through Graig Wen’s wood and fields. We have designed the high quality Shepherd’s Hut to sleep two in style or a family of three or four. The clever design means it feels roomier inside than you would imagine from the outside, with plenty of space for relaxing and storage. There’s a double bed with proper mattress plus a day bed for chilling out which converts to bunk beds for two children if required. With well insulated walls and a wood burning stove, you’ll be warm and snug whatever the weather. There is a dining table with seats for 4 and a kitchenette with sink and cold water tap, gas hob, fridge and all the cutlery and plates you need to whip up simple meals. We provide bedding for the double bed including a sheep wool “Baavet” duvet made on a Snowdonia farm. There are warm Welsh blankets to snuggle under on cooler nights.

You can charge up phones in the hut and there are electric lights. We provide you with a lantern – we are in Snowdonia National Park Dark Skies Reserve so you’ll need it to find your way to your private compost loo and shower at night!
You may pick up 3/4G by the hut and there is also a wifi point near reception for those who don’t want to switch off completely!

BELL TENT FOR HIRE
Our bell tent is for hire during July and August. The canvas tent sleeps 4 and comes kitted out with a proper double bed and 2 camp beds plus basic cooking equipment/utensils and floor matting. The spacious and robust bell tent is pitched in a hidden spot on our lower tent camping fields. You camp in a private area with your own camp fire and a simple outdoor camp kitchen. Just bring your own bedding, food and enjoy a very special corner of Snowdonia National Park…

There is a new, clean and airy compost loo and how shower less than 100 metres away.

The bell tent is suitable for adults and older children seeking an active, wild adventure. Dogs on leads are welcome too. If you prefer a little more luxury closer to the washing facilities and parking then our yurts or Shepherd’s Hut might suit you better.

WI-FI
is available free on the camp site and in a covered shelter. There is phone reception and 4G coverage around the site for most networks (except 02)

BIKE HIRE
Bike hire is available locally
