Glamping Somerset

Overlooking the Vale of Avalon Mowbarton Shepherd’s Hut is located in a 12-acre estate within beautiful Somerset countryside.  Home to Mowbarton Estate Somerset Sparkling Wine the estate also provides self-catering accommodation:  a Shepherd’s Hut perfect for romantic glamping as well as a beautiful converted Barn for larger groups (sleeps up to nine).  Mowbarton is surrounded by green fields and pasture, yet easily accessible with plenty of attractions nearby and only 20 minutes from the M5.

Set in almost two acres, the Shepherd’s Hut shares its seclusion with the vineyard shed, home to tractor and other wine-growing equipment. Apart from the odd bustle as the tractor goes in or out, all the activity on the site is from wildlife. To the east of the Hut is Teasel Meadow, a sloping field with a table and chairs in the top corner – perfect for enjoying the views and watching the sun go down. Buzzards, sparrowhawks, woodpeckers and goldfinches are always around at Mowbarton, and in the spring we often hear cuckoos. Weasels have also been spotted. So sorry – no pets allowed!

MOWBARTON SHEPHERD’S HUT
Built by Blackdown Shepherd Huts to a traditional design, the Hut combines luxurious comfort with the rural idyll. This is glamping at its finest – in a delightful setting. The Hut is fully double-glazed and insulated with sheep wool and stays wonderfully warm all year round.

Or you may prefer to admire the vineyard – right on the doorstep!  Our sparkling wine was chosen to feature at all sorts of notable events this year, from Coronation parties to Glastonbury Festival.

LOCAL AREA

There’s a good range of shops in Wedmore including Village Store which stocks almost everything and is open all hours and  also a butcher/ farm shop, a fishmonger/ greengrocer, and a deli. You can even have local meat delivered from the Somerset Sausage Company.

The village also offers plenty of excellent places to eat and drink including The Swan, the popular George Inn and firm favourite The New Inn as well as an Indian restaurant and Bluebird Cafe.  In Glastonbury one of the favourites is the wonderful Michelin Guide restaurant The Queen of Cups – where Middle Eastern/Mediterranean meets Somerset.
