Glamping in Suffolk with Hot Tub

Welcome to our award-winning accommodation. From glamping in a safari-style tent, to a quiet break in one of our enchanting shepherd huts, … your stay with us will be an experience to remember.

All accommodation includes bed linen and towels, kitchen equipment, private barbecue, and en-suite facilities.
We hope that you’ll fall in love with Suffolk, just like we did when we moved our family here in 1991. We’re situated in the village of Barsham in the Waveney Valley, not far from the bustling market town of Beccles and the beautiful coastal town of Southwold. On the doorstep we have wonderful walks, bicycle rides, and the Broads National Park. There are lots of opportunities to explore the Broads by hired boat or canoe.

Our glamping site is set in its own field on our small working farm, with chickens, sheep, cows, and pigs. The two safari tents and three shepherd huts are all well-spaced and come with their own barbecue. Each self-contained unit is beautifully furnished with a private bathroom and kitchen – ideal for couples, families, or a large group of friends (if you’d like to book the whole site). The South Down shepherd hut and both safari tents are dog friendly, and we also have a selection of outdoor children’s toys.

SAFARI TENTS

For alfresco dining, each of the safari lodges has a firepit-cum-barbecue and a private picnic table. WHAT TO DO WHILE ON HOLIDAY WITH US

THERE ARE SOME WONDERFUL PLACES TO VISIT …

Beccles, on the banks of the River Waveney, at the edge of The Broads National Park.
Get the Black Dog Ferry to the Geldeston Locks or Wherry pub. Have a meal or drink, then walk back to Dawn Chorus Holidays. A truly lovely day out, and if you’re lucky, you might see an otter or kingfisher.
In the summer months, visit Lido, the heated open-air swimming pool. Or just have a wander around the town. We’re lucky enough to have lots of independent shops and eateries.
Ringsfield village hall, you’ll find a fantastic play area.

Southwold offers much of interest, but it’s the sea, and Southwold’s links with the sea, that make this such a wonderful destination at any time of the year. Southwold’s attractions, which include a working lighthouse, beach huts, award-winning pier, old fishing harbour, cliff-top cannon, and, of course, the beach, all combine to make the town a quintessentially English resort.

Earsham has its very own award-winning vineyard, which is one of several popping up in the area.
Norwich: this city’s geographical separation from the spreading sameness of other English cities has infused it with a rich character all its own. It has an invigorating mix of past and present, of openness and off-beat charm. It’s a city where an unrivalled collection of heritage landmarks, spanning 1,000 years of history, blends beautifully with striking 21st century architecture. A city alive with an inclusive atmosphere, compact enough to make you feel at home within days, but with enough sights, local curiosities, and cultural vibrancy to entertain you for weeks. Great for wet days. Riverside has trampolining, cinemas, and bowling. (www.visitnorwich.co.uk)

Bungay has a 13th century castle and numerous precious old buildings in the old town, which comprises almost entirely Grade 2 Listed buildings. Almost the whole town has been designated a conservation area. Bungay is perhaps best known for the iconic Butter Cross. It’s surmounted by the statue of Justice, which is unusual, as she is, for once, not blindfolded. Bungay’s Justice knew what she was doing when she clapped miscreants in irons, which are still visible at the Butter Cross today.
Bungay is also well known for the legend of the Black Dog. The evil hound is said to have killed and injured members of the congregation during a service at St. Mary’s Church on Sunday, August 4th, 1577. The black dog’s likeness is used by several Bungay businesses and sports groups, and even tops the Council’s coat of arms. You can also see him on top of the weathervane on the site of the old town pump in Market Place.
If the weather is bad, you can always have a dip at Bungay public pool
This is another super spot on the River Waveney, so why not hire a canoe.

Flixton has an aviation museum – a great place to go if you’re interested in the second world war, and an inexpensive day out. The museum is funded by donations.
Bugs Café and play area is great for the little ones

Geldeston you can hire a canoe or kayak and paddle your way up Waveney to the Locks pub or Wherry for some light refreshments.

Great Yarmouth, a port famous for once being the hub of the herring industry, also has a fabulous maritime heritage. Great Yarmouth’s Golden Mile is a paradise for people who enjoy seaside entertainment. Indoor and outdoor entertainment venues line the promenade, and there are rides and attractions for all ages along the seafront.
You can play adventure golf, enjoy freshly cooked doughnuts, fish and chips, or an ice cream, and then head off for a ride on a scream-inducing rollercoaster, go racing, or take in a superb show.

Just North of Gt Yarmouth is Horsey Gap, a great place to see the seals.

Lowestoft, the entrance to the Broads National Park, has blue flag beaches, a vibrant music scene, and lots of independent shops and restaurants. If the weather’s wet, you can go bowling or to the cinema and indoor play area.
Africa Alive! is just a 20-minute drive from the campsite.
East Anglia Transport Museum is only 8 miles away.

Somerleyton Hall is just 23 minutes from Dawn Chorus Holidays.
Take a trip to Carlton Marshes, a wonderful place for nature lovers.

Dunwich and Dunwich Heath Head outdoors for some family fun! Dunwich Heath is a great place to explore with youngsters. Discover some amazing wildlife with nature trails, have a go at building a shelter, or search for minibeasts in the ‘bug basement’. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too.
