Fancy a walk? Well, the famous Dartmoor National Park is right on your doorstep and at nearby Ivybridge, you’ll find the starting point of the original Two Moors Way. This trail crosses Exmoor and Dartmoor right up to the North Devon Coast.
Within half an hour’s drive of California Cross, there is Dartmoor Zoo, Pennywell Farm, or Buckfast Butterfly Farm & Otter Sanctuary…a great day out for youngsters! California Cross is ideally located to explore South Devon. Take a trip to the biggest sandy beach in the area at Bigbury-on-Sea just 20 minutes away. This beach is famous for its sea tractor, which trundles beach-goers between Bigbury and Burgh Island. How cool! There are plenty of other local hotspots around too to visit.
If you like, why not venture out to bustling Plymouth and visit the National Marine Aquarium, or head over to gorgeous Dartmouth. Follow the local town trail, explore Dartmouth Castle and hop on the ferry to historic Kingswear, a lovely higgledy-piggledy hillside town.
