Glamping Devon with Hot Tub

Holly Water Holidays offering Glamping in Devon for your next UK Holiday is a tranquil glamorous camping escape in a shepherds hut on a farm in mid Devon. We are 3 miles from Crediton, offering a slice of heaven with Shepherds Huts and wood-fired hot tubs. Crediton our local town sits within easy reach of Exmoor, Dartmoor and both the North Devon and South Devon beaches. It’s a perfect place from which to explore our beautiful county.

The Shepherd Huts
Sleeping two, our glamorous camping Shepherd huts provide the perfect romantic retreat and an escape from the demands of everyday life. It’s somewhere to enjoy life’s small and simple pleasures whilst you recharge your batteries.  The shepherds huts sit in one of our sheep fields and the sheep have favourite resting places below the mature oak trees. The flock is named after the abundant bluebells that transform one of the fields into a blue carpet in May. Hence it made perfect sense for our huts to take their names from these same features of the land. We have ‘Oak’ and ‘Bluebell’ for you to choose from.

We aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible but also want you to be able to enjoy the luxury and pleasures of a truly perfect holiday. Our power supply for the Shepherd huts themselves is entirely solar and propane gas and we are run on an entirely ‘off-grid’ system. With this you can be as cosy and comfortable as you could ever wish for including the following.

  • Your own private kitchen facilities
  • Water supply which is brought to you with the aid of a solar pump
  • En-suite shower and toilet room with carefully sourced toiletries
  • Full heating
  • Wood burner for those cosy, relaxed evenings
  • DVD players (and a variety of films if you wanted to borrow them)
  • Small Ipod/phone speakers for music and USB charge points for your phones or tablets

On your arrival you will find a welcome basket with all that you need to make a ‘cuppa’ and settle right in. Extras can always be added by arrangement or you can upgrade your basket to one of our 3 larger baskets. The Cream Tea, The Big Breakfast or The Combo Basket*.

OUTSIDE offers….

  • Fire pit for barbequing
  • Wood-fired hot tubs
  • Bicycles for your use

There is no wifi or telephone in the huts (although obviously a multitude of pubs, cafes etc in the surrounding area have access to these if you wanted it).

FARMHOUSE KITCHEN MENU
During your stay you may wish to order from the farmhouse kitchen menu which is available in your information guide. The Menu includes a variety of ‘ready’ meals prepared for your convenience using our own farm produce and local ingredients. All you will need to do is pop them in the oven. We also have a good range of farm produced meat and eggs available to order before your trip or daily whilst you are here.

LOCAL AREA
Crediton town itself is an old market town which now has a lively monthly Farmers Market selling locally sourced products. The high street has the usual shops in addition to independent butchers, bakeries, delicatessen and coffee shops. Crediton also has a swimming pool and sport centre. Within a few miles there are several villages to explore with pubs that serve food, a couple of farm shops and many footpaths. In addition to moor and sea we are well served with a wide variety of attractions and places to visit. These include numerous gardens, historic houses, open farms, National Trust properties, the historic city of Exeter and it’s many attractions to name but a few.

Below are just a handful of ideas and there are many more depending on what type of holiday you have in mind. You might simply choose to leave the car by your Shepherd’s hut and explore the local footpaths or cycle with the bikes provided along the lanes. The choice is yours!

  • National Trust properties including Knightshayes, Killerton, A La Ronde, Arlington Court house and gardens and Castle Drogo
  • Bickleigh Mill and Castle
  • Tiverton canal with some of the last horse drawn barges in the country
  • Tiverton’s small museum
  • Tiverton castle open from Easter until October
  • Tarka Line railway line
  • Exeter also has many other attractions including medieval underground passages, the Royal Albert, Memorial Museum and the Custom house and Cathedral
  • Powderham Castle near Exeter
  • Dartmoor National Park and Exmoor National Park

SOCIAL DISTANCING
Our site is easy for social distancing and has no shared amenities with indoor kitchens and showers in each hut, your own outdoor eating area, firepit and hot-tub and your own parking area.

Guests can wander around 35 acres of sheep fields so avoiding others is easy. As a romantic retreat people tend to keep themselves to themselves often anyway so this was all planned with privacy in mind in the first place!
