Glamping Somerset near Bath
For a completely different glamping holiday experience in Somerset, come and stay in this amazing hand-crafted wooden roundhouse. Set in the grounds of the owner’s 40-acre organic farm, this unique yurt-style Somerset cottage is near the village of Stratton-on-the-Fosse at the eastern end of the Mendip Hills, only 8 miles from Wells, which is the smallest city in England, just 12 miles south of historic Bath and 12 miles north east of mystical Glastonbury.
This unusual Somerset holiday cottage, set in its own gardens and overlooking the fields, is 26′ in diameter, offers a perfect romantic retreat for couples or a small family who would like to sample a different way of living. The light and airy open plan interior of this Somerset holiday accommodation boasts a romantic handmade four poster bed, created from ash coppiced from the farm’s own woodland, a roll top bath and original Rayburn.
Outside, stroll straight from the door into the countryside and discover the nearby woodlands and valley, or just simply relax, sip a refreshing drink and take in the views across the fields.
Brock and Helen moved to Helen’s family farm in 2010 and became involved in farming the land using Biodynamic principles. Starting off with just 2 cockerels (named PlinkPlank and Plonk! now long-gone), there is now a small herd of Saddleback pigs, flock of Jacob sheep, herd of Jersey and Hereford cows, hens, ducks, and our latest edition, twin nanny goats. They live on site with their two children and Mason, their very hansom and extremely friendly rescue dog!
A sincere, warm welcome awaits you where there is plenty to explore near and far.
THE ROUNDHOUSE – Sleeps 4
The Roundhouse has been built using mainly recycled and reclaimed materials – from the marble and granite floor, the roof tiles, the rayburn and many other features. They completed most of the work themselves and based the design on a traditional yurt which Brock had built a few years previously. The Roundhouse aims to have a low impact on the environment but provide an enjoyable and glamourous-camping holiday space!
