Glamping Devon

Summerhill Yurts offer ecofriendly glamping holidays in yurts on a farm near Exeter in Devon. Summerhill is a mixed organic farm owned by the Soil Association Land Trust and is run by Ben and Alice Moseley. Lying in the heart of the beautiful mid Devon countryside, 2 miles from the village of Yeoford, on the Two Moors Way near Crediton, as the name suggests the farm is perched on a hillside. A small farm at just under 100 acres, Summerhill is a patchwork of meadows, hedges, arable fields, woods and orchards. Whether it’s a family holiday, a quiet weekend break for that special occasion, or a few days away from it all in the tranquil surroundings of mid Devon, Summerhill Farm provides the perfect place to stay.

Offering glamping and camping with a difference the Mongolian Yurts provide a hassle free alternative to staying in the great outdoors. Just bring yourselves and your spirit of adventure and we provide the rest. Our small farm is tucked away, providing a quiet haven with stunning views by day and stargazing at night. The barn is equipped with all the necessary facilities to make your stay comfortable. And to make things easy for you, we offer hampers for campers providing a nice selection of organic food and drink waiting for you on arrival.

Our yurts are genuine Mongolian yurts and are snug and warm and able to withstand the elements. Plenty of light is let in through the top of the yurt and a double door gives access to the outside world and the wide open spaces of Summerhill.  The yurts sleep 4 to 6 people, ideal for a family or a real treat for a couple. Each yurt is positioned in its own secluded spot with plenty of space and privacy and is furnished to give a cosy, rustic feel including

  • Comfortable beds
  • Rugs
  • Cushions
  • Chairs
  • Storage
  • Central wood burning stove helping to keep the yurt warm and snug
  • It’s own outdoor seating area with barbeque facilities

Close by to the yurts we have the barn which is equipped with toilets and a shower. Hot water is provided by solar panels on the barn roof which also generates the electricity for the barn.

We provide a fully equipped kitchen and each yurt is allocated it’s own fridge and food storage box. The kitchen opens out onto the farm garden with a wild flower lawn surrounded by raised beds growing a selection of vegetables ans salads. This area provides a picnic area with tables and chairs and barbecue, an ideal spot for a cooked breakfast or evening meal.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a snug room where you can relax and unwind. Here you will find information about the farm, surrounding area, things to do and see and can browse our collection of maps and guides to help plan local walks and excursions. We have a selection of games for all ages as well as art stuff so that kids can unleash their creative talents or just make a mess.

There is no better way to get your stay off to a good start than having a selection of top quality organic produce waiting for you on arrival. Crammed full with essentials to keep you going and treats to make the holiday special, each hamper provides a mix of milk, bread, fruit juice, eggs, meat and vegetables, conserves and more. A chilled bottle of wine or some local real ale, whatever your preference, we can make up a hamper to suit your specific requirements.

If you are travelling a long way, arriving late or just don’t want the hassle of cooking on your first night, we can provide you with a meal to bung in the oven when you get here so that you can relax and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal made with our own produce. Details and menu are provided with your booking confirmation.

The farm larder provides an honesty shop stocked with some of our own produce including apple juice, eggs and honey from the farm.

Grab a stick and roam free and explore the farm. Follow the farm trail down to the river, along the old drovers road and discover the farm’s wildlife, an abundance of wild flowers, grand old oak trees, butterflies and birds. There are plenty of quiet spots ideal for a picnic or just to take a breather in the long grass. Meet the cows and their calves, sheep and other animals on the farm. If you want to get involved you can help collect the eggs or herd the geese. There’s always something going on.
